Instant Imaging
Speeds Up Kemper's Claims

The Kemper Auto and Home Claims department shares information at lightning speed by integrating digital photography and wireless imaging technology into their claims review process. They are able to transmit images and data directly from the field, allowing everyone on the team to review them instantly and significantly reduce claims processing time. Their wireless communications system involves taking photos with a digital camera, tagging them with text information like policy and claim number, and then sending them back to the network server instantly. Once the server confirms receipt of the image, the connection is terminated and the field agent goes on to the next case. Meanwhile the photos have been catalogued in the company database by camera ID, policy, and claim number, and they’re immediately available to authorized personnel for retrieval and viewing with no data entry errors along the way.

The transition to a wireless imaging system dramatically increased productivity in the claims department – a cost savings for each claim processed. Sending data wirelessly to their commercial Web account enabled all parties to review images and process a claim in a fraction of the time it once took. Moreover, they were able to decrease their traditional film and film processing costs by more than 70%. Faster review times mean shorter response times that translate into increased customer satisfaction.

Visual Communication with the use of an infoimaging infrastructure improves claims processing to the benefit of employees and customers alike.

“Sharing claims documentation in real time among all the necessary personnel has produced dramatic efficiencies and reduced our costs substantially,” said Steve Robinson, Senior VP of IFG Claims, Kemper Insurance Company. “That’s why we’ve taken the system nationwide.”
