Future
Image and I3A Announce Event Dates and Venue
for Mobile Imaging North America Executive Summit
Forbes Magazine
role as media sponsor to highlight
digital imaging’s impact on business communications
SAN MATEO, CA – June 23, 2003 –Future
Image, the leading provider of digital imaging information
and analysis and the International Imaging Industry
Association (I3A), the leading global imaging industry
association today announced the dates and venue for their
forthcoming Mobile Imaging North America Executive Summit.
The invitation-only conference, to be held in Monterey,
California on November 3rd and 4th
will focus on the business opportunities and challenges
arising from the explosive growth of mobile imaging in
North America. They also announced that Forbes Magazine
will be the media sponsor for the event, marking the
second consecutive year of involvement by the prestigious
business magazine.
The conference’s opening remarks will
be tendered by Alexis Gerard, president and founder of
Future Image and co-author of a forthcoming book on Visual
Communication, and by Lisa Walker, president of the
International Imaging Industry Association. These will be
followed by a round-table of visionaries and executives
shaping the North American mobile imaging market,
including Vyomesh (VJ) Joshi, head of Hewlett-Packard’s
$22 billion/year Imaging and Printing business, Philippe
Kahn, founder and CEO of LightSurf Technologies, and
others to be announced at a later date.
“Mobile
Imaging is having such a dramatic effect on the cellular
and imaging industries that I felt our readers would want
to learn more about it and its impact on business
communication,” said Tim Forbes, chief operating officer
of Forbes Inc. “I look forward to duplicating the
popularity enjoyed by last October’s Visual Communication
Summit Conference co-hosted by Future Image and Forbes
Magazine and the Visual Communication special section in
our magazine.”
“In the past 20 years,
two major technology waves have fundamentally changed the
way we communicate: the digitization of image content and
the Internet,” said Alexis Gerard, president, Future Image
Inc. “Mobile imaging is the third such wave. Future Image
analysts expect sales of cell-phones with integrated
cameras to reach 150 million units by 2005 with no
slowdown in sight, dwarfing the
most impressive figures ever achieved by standalone
cameras of any description. Without a doubt, we are now at
an inflection point in both business and personal
communication: The advent of the first “always there”
image capture appliance, and a proliferation of image
capture devices in use at any given time that exceeds
historical norms by orders of magnitude. This growth is
driving fundamental shifts in opportunities around
imaging, from appliances to infrastructure, and from
services to content.”
“I3A’s mission is to advance the use of
imaging and drive market growth; the Summit is a
fundamental opportunity for the industry to examine the
impact and potential for catalyzing the use of images in
pursuit of those objectives,” explained Lisa Walker,
president, International Imaging Industry Association.
“Meeting with industry leaders and their business clients
will provide a forum to discuss ways in which the industry
as a whole can extend the influence and impact imaging has
on the way we communicate.”
Tony Henning, lead analyst for Wireless
Imaging at Future Image, editor of the Future Image WIRE
(Wireless Imaging Research Edition) continuous information
service, and author of “Wireless Imaging – Infrastructure
and Players” and “The Camera-Phone Phenomenon,” will host
a series of panel sessions that will outline the
technology roadmap for Mobile Imaging over the next 12,
24, and 36 months. Content for these sessions will include
device capabilities (sensor, lens, display, storage,
battery, OS, and UI), bandwidth, back-end data management,
interoperability issues, and DRM.
In addition to the
Summit’s formal program, mobile and imaging industry
executives will be able to network with business leaders
while golfing at Pebble Beach and while touring Monterey
County’s wineries.
In conjunction with the
Mobile Imaging North America Executive Summit, Future
Image, in association with Forbes magazine, is continuing
its series of special advertising sections designed to
deliver a high-value information link between the leaders
of the imaging industry and the leaders of the business
world. Visual Communication:
Mobile Imaging
Connections
will be part of the November 10th issue of
Forbes magazine that will reach 4.5 million readers around
the world. The special section will help these global
tech-savvy senior decision makers better understand the
financial value of mobile imaging technologies and how it
is helping leading companies cut costs, enrich the
communication experience and achieve competitive advantage
in their respective fields.
